Uzbekistan on Tuesday claimed that five rockets were fired into its territory from Afghanistan, but they did not explode.
The Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry said that the rockets fell on the bordering town of Termez at around 16:20pm local time, causing minor damage to buildings, but no human casualties have were reported.
“Four of the rockets landed in the Majnuntol neighborhood area and one on a football stadium,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that none of the rockets exploded.
Uzbek authorities together with the Afghan sides are “implementing necessary measures” to establish the cause of the incident.
In April, the Islamic State (IS), also known as Daesh terrorist group claimed it had carried out a rocket attacks on Uzbekistan, however the Uzbek officials called the report as false.
