United Nations Investigates Possible Tigray War Crimes Committed by Eritrean Military

Michelle Bachelet, the UN rights chief, says her office has reason to believe that grave violations that could amount to “war crimes and crimes against humanity” were committed in Ethiopia’s Tigray region by Ethiopian and Eritrean troops.

In a statement on Thursday, Bachelet emphasised the need for an independent investigation into the situation in the war-torn Tigray region.

She went on to say that multiple parties to the conflict including the Ethiopian National Defence Forces, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front. the Eritrean armed forces, and the Amhara regional forces and allied militia could be perpetrators of a wide range of human rights violations.
