Unauthorized Video of Actor Jesse Williams’ Nude Scene Onstage Leaked

On Monday, an unauthorized video of Jesse Williams performing a nude scene in a Broadway play was circulated online, prompting the theater that debuted the play to add stringent security measures.

Williams is starring in the revival of Take Me Out, Richard Greenberg’s exploration of the toxic prejudices that arise when a Major League Baseball superstar comes out as gay.

Second Stage Theater, which is producing the revival, condemned the video leak.

“Taking naked pictures of anyone without their consent is highly objectionable and can have severe legal consequences,” Second Stage said. “We are actively pursuing takedown requests and ask that no one participates in the distribution of these images.”

The theater has used strict smartphone policies to protect the actors. Audience members were required upon entering the theater to surrender their phones which are then put in locked pouches until the end of the show.

Second Stage said it would ramp up security in light of the violation.
