Ukraine Claims Grain Stolen By Russians Taken to Syria

Ukraine’s defense ministry has claimed that Russian cargo ships have transported grain stolen from Ukraine, most likely to Syria.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, dry cargo ships under the Russian flag have reached the Mediterranean. The cargo ships were loaded with a significant volume of grain. The ministry added that the grain might be smuggled to countries in the Middle East from Syria.

The defense ministry also reported that Russia has been preparing grain and sunflower seeds in storage at Polohy, Zaporizhia Oblast, to be transported to Russia.

Trucks loaded with 1,500 tons of grain headed to Crimea from Malaya Lepetykha in the Kherson region. The defense ministry also said that the Russians transported a large volume of Ukrainian beets, potatoes, and cabbage to Crimea.

Last week, Russian soldiers reportedly occupied and destroyed Ukrainian farmlands. The Russians also allegedly blocked the export of Ukrainian grain from port cities like Odesa.
