Oscar-winning Hollywood actress Jessica Chastain met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Aug. 7.
Chastain, 45, visited the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital and later had a private meeting with Zelensky and head of the Ukrainian presidential administration Andriy Yermak.
“For us, such visits of famous people are extremely valuable. Thanks to this, the world will hear, know and understand the truth about what is happening in our country even more,” Zelensky said on Telegram.
In his daily address, Zelensky said that Chastain “saw with her own eyes the consequences of the Russian occupation in Irpin, Kyiv region.”
“Her story about our war will definitely be heard. We are preparing an important humanitarian event,” Zelensky said.
Chastain is the latest celebrity to show her support for Ukraine since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his invasion.
Hollywood celebrities who have previously visited Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion include Angelina Jolie, Ben Stiller, Sean Penn, and Liev Schreiber.
