Sweden Investigates Drone Flights Over Nuclear Reactors

The Swedish Security Service (Säpo) announced it will be investigating drone flights at the Forsmark, Ringhals, and Oskarshamn’s nuclear power plants.

Swedish police reported last Saturday that it had received reports of drones flying over several nuclear power plants but had no idea who was conducting them and why.

“With regard to the cases of drone overflights at three nuclear power plants, the assessment is made that they are of such a nature that preliminary investigations have been taken over from the police authority in order to be able to investigate the incidents in more detail,” said SAPO.

Police were unable to track the drones that were spotted over the plants but there has been footage of the drone flights.

The drone sightings came  amid rising military tensions with Russia but there has been no evidence of Kremlin involvement
