Shadow and Bone, a Netflix fantasy series, is expanding its cast by four actors, upgrading three season one actors to series regular roles, and changing showrunners.
Anna Leong Brophy (Back) will play Tamar Kir-Bataar, Patrick Gibson (The OA) will play Nikolai Lantsov, Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat) will play Tolya Yul-Bataar, and Jack Wolfe (The Witcher) will play Wylan Hendriks.
Danielle Galligan (Nina Zenik), Daisy Head (Genya Safin), and Calahan Skogman (Matthias Helvar) have also been promoted to series regulars. Daegan Fryklind, who wrote the first season, has been promoted to co-showrunner with returning showrunner Eric Heisserer.
Shadow and Bone has also revealed its director lineup. The next season’s episodes will be directed by Bola Ogun, Laura Belsey, Karen Gaviola, and Mairzee Almas.
Shadow and Bone, based on Leigh Bardugo’s best-selling Grishaverse novels, follows orphan Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), who possesses a sought-after power, as she runs from the powerful General Kirigan across a war-torn planet (Ben Barnes).
For 21 Laps Entertainment, Pouya Shahbazian, and Shelley Meals, author Bardugo returns as executive producer alongside other EPs Shawn Levy, Josh Barry, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen.
Shadow and Bone is set to return with eight new episodes in 2022.
