Scotland reported its highest daily COVID-19 cases at 20,217 on Jan. 3.
The latest figures show that of 65,860 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results, 34.9% were positive.
The figures also show that 1,031 people were admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 and 38 of whom were in intensive care.
The Scottish government noted delays in between tests being taken and results being reported as labs continue to process large volumes of tests.
Public Health Scotland continues to monitor the situation.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will hold a special meeting on Jan. 5 to provide a fresh update to ministers of the Scottish Parliament on the government’s COVID-19 response, Holyrood’s Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone confirmed.
