RFI Blocked in Russia

Russia has blocked access to the website of FRANCE 24’s sister radio station RFI.

“Russia blocked, Friday, April 15, the websites of Radio France Internationale, which broadcast information in fifteen languages, including Russian, in the midst of a wave of repression against criticism of the offensive in Ukraine. The www.rfi.fr site is now on the list of sites blocked in Russia by the telecommunications regulator Roskomnadzor,” said RFI.

Roskomnadzor however did not specify why they have blocked RFI and that it was only ordered by the Russian General Prosecutor’s Office.

Russia has been blocking several independent and foreign news organizations since the start of the Ukraine invasion.

RFI’s censorship came just hours after Moscow Times’ Russian language service was blocked as well.
