Britain’s Security Service, MI5, has distributed an interference warning to MPs and peers claiming that a female Chinese national is attempting to sway the parliament towards Beijing.
The woman was identified as Christine Lee, a solicitor who is allegedly under the control of the Chinese government.
” (Lee) knowingly engaged in political interference activities on behalf of the United Front Work Department of the Chinese Communist Party,” said the M15.
Lee reportedly donated funds to former Labour minister Barry Gardiner and has been monitored by the security services for a while.
No politicians have been accused of treason yet including Gardiner while Lee has not been arrested and is not being expelled.
Lee is believed to still be in the UK and operates a law firm with offices in London and Beijing.
Lee has not yet released a statement on the allegations.
