Israeli Troops Kill Palestinian Man During Protest

Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian man during a protest against Israeli settlements in the northern village of Beita, on the West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry said on Friday.

The man sustained a head wound and died of his injuries at a hospital in the city of Nablus, according to the statement.

Palestinian media identified the victim as Jamil Abu Ayyash from Nablus in the West Bank.

Abu Ayyash is the ninth protester, killed by Israeli forces during protests in Beita this year.

Since May of 2021 the village of Beita has been the scene of regular demonstrations against Jewish settlement expansion.

The Red Crescent said that its crews have dealt with 68 injuries in the village, Quds News Network reported.

“Israeli troops had closed all roads to the village, preventing medical crews from reaching those wounded. This pushed paramedics to walk for one kilometer, carrying wounded protesters in order to reach ambulances,” the outlet added.

The Israeli government has not commented.
