Israel Records 21,501 COVID-19 Cases in Last 24 Hours

Israel’s Ministry of Health on Monday reported a whopping 21,501 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, putting it the highest daily infections over the past week.

At the same time, the number of serious cases stood at 222, and the death toll rose by 10 to 8,269, the ministry said in a statement.

The health ministry also urged the public to get vaccinated and shots are available to all those aged 5 or above.

According to the ministry’s figure, of Israel’s 9.5 million populations, 6,630,886 have had at least one vaccine dose.

Of those, 5,971,329 have also had a second shot and 4,334,829 had a booster as well, ministry data showed.

Meanwhile, Health Ministry Director-General Nachman Ash urged people who feel ill to remain at home as precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus in the society.

“Even if it’s just a bit of a runny nose, a bit of a cough and we would normally continue working — stay at home in these cases,” Ash added.
