Patrick Demarchelier, the fashion photographer who worked with high-profile figures including Princess Diana, Beyonce, and Jennifer Lopez, has died at the age of 78 on Thursday.
Demarchelier also worked on advertising campaigns for Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Tommy Hilfiger, and Carolina Herrera.
Demarchelier’s representatives announced his death on Thursday.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Demarchelier on 31 March 2022, at the age of 78. Demarchelier is survived by his wife Mia, his three sons Gustaf, Arthur, Victor, and three grandchildren,” Demarchelier’s representative said in an Instagram post.
Demarchelier also worked for high-profile titles including Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and Rolling Stone, and is known for Meryl Streep’s infamous magazine editor character that name-checked him in the 2006 film ‘The Devil Wears Prada’.
Bella Hadid, an American model, also paid tribute to Demarchelier.
“I am grateful to have been lucky enough to be in front of your lens. Most gentle, most legendary, soft but full of life. You will be missed Patrick. Rest In Peace,” Hadid wrote in an Instagram post.
Demarchelier’s cause of death is unknown.
