First Omicron Cases Reported in Thailand, Fiji and Argentina

More nations are reporting their first instances of the Omicron variety, with Fiji and Thailand both reporting cases on Monday.

The two cases of Omicron were found in two Fijian individuals who flew from Nigeria and landed on a Fiji Airways aircraft from Hong Kong on November 25. 

The two Fijians tested positive for Covid-19 last week, and findings revealed they carried the Omicron variation.

Argentina’s health minister said on Sunday that the country has also discovered its first instance of the Omicron variant.

The infected person, 38 years old and properly vaccinated, had been to the African country for employment and returned to Argentina on November 30.

The tourist had tested negative for the virus before departure and upon arrival in Argentina, but they were given another test since they had been in touch with persons in South Africa after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health said that their country’s first case of the Omicron variant was a 35-year-old American had been living in Spain who entered the country just a week ago.
