Ticket sales for Chris Rock’s comedy shows have allegedly increased since his altercation with Will Smith at the 94th Academy Awards.
According to a tweet from TickPick, the company sold more tickets to see Chris Rock overnight than it had in the previous month combined.
Rock is set to perform a stand-up comedy show at Boston’s Wilbur Theater, where according to TickPick’s public relations representative Kyle Zorn, the lowest tickets were sold for $46 on March 18 but had escalated to $411 by Monday.
The comedian was presenting at the 94th Academy Awards when he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, which reportedly enraged the pair, prompting Smith to not only get up on stage and smack Rock, but also to slap him.
Rock has made no public statements about his altercation with Smith.
Smith’s actions at the Oscars have been “condemned” by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which has launched a formal investigation into his behavior
