Child Charged in Shooting New Hampshire Mother and 2 Sons

The New Hampshire Department of Justice announced on Thursday that a child was arrested and charged for the murders of a mother and her two sons in the state.

The child was charged under juvenile laws with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of falsifying physical evidence for the homicides of Kassandra Sweeney, 25, and her two sons, Benjamin Sweeney, 4, and Mason Sweeney, 1, in Northfield on August 3.

Dr. Jennie V. Duval, a medical examiner, said Kassandra, Benjamin, and Mason, died of one gunshot wound each.

New Hampshire law enforcement officers responded to a 911 call and found the Sweeneys dead inside the residence around 11:30 AM.

New Hampshire authorities had been investigating the killings but did not share what evidence led to the child’s arrest, along with their age and identity.
