Canberra Australia Locks Down after One COVID-19 Case Detected

Australia’s capital Canberra was placed on a strict lockdown for a week after a case of COVID-19 was reported.

Residents in Canberra and surrounding cities will only be allowed to leave their homes for important reasons from Thursday at 5:00 pm local time.

Canberra joins Sydney, Melbourne, and several cities in New South Wales state that are locked down due to the delta variant.

For the duration of the shutdown, non-essential enterprises will close.

People will be allowed to exercise outside for one hour every day with one other person or their household.

Since the pandemic started, Australia has over 37,000 cases and 941 deaths due to COVID-19.

Almost 36 percent of the country’s 25.4 million people have received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccination, and 19 percent have been fully immunized.
