Brittney Griner Takes the Stand in Russian Court Over Drug Charges

Brittney Griner testified in a Russian court on Wednesday, saying that a language interpreter provided incomplete translations during her arrest in February.

According to Griner, the interpreter only provided fractions of what the Russian authorities said when they questioned her at the airport.

Griner also testified that the Russian authorities asked her to sign documents without providing any explanations.

“It was just sign here, sign there, surname, nothing was explained,” Griner said, according to an APTN audio recording of her testimony.

In her second court appearance on July 7, Griner admitted that cannabis oil was found in her luggage but said she did not mean to carry the drug.

Griner could face 10 years in prison if found guilty of the drug charges.
