Boy Injured After Falling From Warner Bros Movie World Carousel

A 12-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with a head injury, after falling from a carousel ride at the Gold Coast theme park Movie World on Tuesday.

Emergency services arrived at the Gold Coast theme park just after 1 PM following reports of a 12-year-old boy who had fallen from the Looney Tunes Carousel.

William Houghton, Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor, said the boy suffered a deep laceration to the back of his head.

“The patient was at the side of the amusement ride, he’d been tended to by one of the (registered nurses) on (the) scene, so he had good first aid given before we arrived. The scene was very calm… Everyone seemed really helpful,” Houghton said.

The boy was ‘conscious and alert’ as the Movie World’s nurse treated him at the scene.

Emergency services brought the boy to Gold Coast University Hospital in stable condition.

Village Roadshow Theme Parks, the operator of Movie World, said that an investigation is now underway.

Village Roadshow Theme Parks closed the ride until it could determine how the accident happened and added that further updates on the situation would be issued when available.
