The government of Iran said its gas problem would be resolved with the gas swap agreement between Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan.
Iran’s Presidential Chief of Staff, Gholam Hossein Esmaeili said that Azerbaijan has reached an agreement to buy gas from Turkmenistan and swap through Iran.
“We would not charge any funds to swap gas between them, but in return, we will get gas supplies to the eastern provinces,” Esmaeili said.
“One of the policies of the current Iranian presidential administration is to make relations with other countries, intensify diplomacy and focus on neighboring countries. In this regard, the 15th ECO Summit focused on the development of economic relations with member countries in various fields,” Esmaili added.
Iranian Minister of Transport and Urban Development Rostam Qassemi also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic Faisal Mekdad in Tehran in which they discussed economic cooperation.
Qassemi said that Iran and Syria need to expand economic relations through the private sector, . “In this sense, co-production is a good ground for economic cooperation.”
