The government of Iran on Friday announced the death of another 187 COVID-19 patients in the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 134,607 across the country.
Iran’s Health Ministry in a statement expressed its concern over daily fatalities and said they have accelerated vaccination campaigns in order to control the further spread of the virus in the country.
Another 19,317 people were tested positive for the virus during the span of time, in which 2,566 among them are being hospitalized.
According to the ministry, 6,427,388 patients out of a total of 6,913,427 infected people have recovered or been discharged from hospitals since the outbreak of the virus started in the country over two years ago.
The ministry also lamented the health condition of 3,842 COVID-19 patients who are critical and are in intensive care units.
Moreover, the ministry said 61,949,008 Iranians have received the first dose and 54,988,930 received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine so far.
Another 21,945,173 people have received their third shot as the booster jab, the ministry added.
