Amazon Prime Video Signs Deal With Second Nigerian Studio

Amazon Prime Video has increased its commitment to African content by establishing its second license agreement with a Nigerian studio in less than a month.

Anthill Studios, a Lagos-based film production, post-production, and animation company, has signed an exclusive multi-year worldwide license arrangement with the streamer.

Anthill’s post-production arm has been behind some of the top Nollywood titles, including Prophetess, Day of Destiny, and ElevatorBaby, in addition to cinema films such as Prophetess, Day of Destiny, and ElevatorBaby. Meanwhile, its animation studio is said to be Nigeria’s largest.

Beginning in 2022, Amazon will get exclusive worldwide distribution rights to Anthill’s slate of theatrical movies, which will be made accessible to Prime Video users following their theatrical premiere in Nigeria.

Niyi Akinmolayan, founder and creative director of Anthill, stated that his organization enjoys exploring genres and “going boldly” where most others do not.

The Anthill pact comes only three weeks after Amazon announced its first venture into African content, establishing a multi-year license partnership with Nigerian production studio Inkblot Studios.
