Israel Pounds Gaza For Second Time, At Least 13 Killed

Israeli jets have pounded Gaza Strip for a second day on Saturday, killing at least 13 people hours after Palestinian armed group fired dozens of rockets toward southern Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces said that Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group fired 71 rockets toward Israel. “Nine of these rockets fell inside the Gaza Strip. Terrorist rockets threaten innocent civilians—both Israeli and Gazan,” the army said in a statement.

The army also launched Operation “Breaking Dawn” with airstrikes in Gaza as what it described due to the “imminent threat of attack against Israeli civilians by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization in Gaza.”

Palestinian media reported that a woman was killed on Saturday when an Israeli warplane attacked a car in Beit Hanoun, in the north of the Gaza.

“13 people, including a five-year-old-girl, have been killed since the start of Israeli strikes on Friday,” WAFA reported, citing medical sources.

Israeli army on Friday targeted a senior commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist group, Tayseer Jabari, who was responsible for multiple terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians.

Islamic Jihad leader Ziad al-Nakhalah warned retaliation and called on the fighters of the Palestinian resistance to stand firm together to confront Israeli aggression.

Nakhalah blamed Israel for starting the war, warning Israel must pay the price and bear full responsibility for any consequences.
