China Implements New Internet Access Requirements

China said it would implement new internet guidelines, demanding using real identities to register online accounts.

Cyber Administration of China said it would not permit online service providers to cater to users that do not register online accounts under their real identities.

The government has directed Internet service providers to close accounts representing inaccurate information.

Violators of the new guidelines would also be prevented from creating new accounts.

Cyber Administration said Tuesday that its national network information system aims to continue to “intensify network law enforcement efforts, standardize network law enforcement behaviors, and resolutely investigate and deal with various violations of laws and regulations in accordance with the law” toward the first half of 2022.

The government has encouraged cyberspace administration departments to impose various punishments for law violations, including fines, “handling responsible persons,” and closing online accounts.
