A magnitude 5.3 earthquake was felt in several parts of Honduras on Tuesday morning, about 9:15am local time.
No damage or injuries have been reported according to local media and authorities.
According to the Earthquake Hazards program with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) the earthquake’s epicenter was at coordinates 16.121°N 87.514°W, an area 38 km north-northeast of the costal town of Tela, in the Gulf of Honduras, at a depth of 10 km.
There was no risk of a tsunami reported
Local emergency services. were monitoring the situation.
