Two Daycare Employees Charged with Child Abuse of 3-Year-Old in Georgia

Georgia police charged two daycare employees in a child abuse case on Friday for allegedly slamming a 3-year-old boy in July.

The Clarkston Police Department issued arrest warrants on Friday for daycare employees Bernetta Glover and Autumn Coney on charges of child cruelty in the first degree stemming from an incident at Clarkston First Baptist Academy on July 6, 2022.

Krystin Collier, the 3-year-old victim’s mother, said her son came home from daycare on the day of the incident with a swollen jaw and bruises.

“This day, he was very, very emotional, standoffish. He was missing a shoe; he was very disheveled,” Collier said.

Collier said she knew “something didn’t seem right”, and went to the Clarkston First Baptist Academy, which turned over a surveillance video of a teacher aggressively throwing her son to the floor.

“The staff punched my child in the face, grabbed him by his ponytail, and led him around like it’s a leash. I watched her grab him by his top ponytail, slam him against the wall, punch him in the face,” Collier said.

Collier immediately called the Clarkston Police Department after finding out about the incident.

“I feel so bad for him, and this is the first time that he’s ever been in daycare. This is a church. This is a church. and I trusted the church,” Collier said.

The Clarkston Police Department is still actively investigating the incident at the Clarkston First Baptist Academy.
