The principal of Robb Elementary School was reinstated to her position on Thursday, days after her suspension with pay earlier this week.
Hal Harrell, Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District superintendent, said in a letter addressed to Mandy Gutierrez that she is allowed to return to work as principal.
“As a result of our review, you will be allowed to return to work… You will continue to serve the District in an administrative capacity,” Harrell said.
Gutierrez was suspended on Monday after a Texas House subcommittee report on the shooting highlighted issues with her performance, including a claim that she knew the lock for the classroom where the gunman killed most of his victims was not working.
Gutierrez told the press that the claim in the report was inaccurate.
“What I know for a fact is the door to room 111 did, in fact, lock. And the reason I know that is we conduct regular walk-throughs of the campus, and I have myself used my master key to unlock that door,” Gutierrez said.
