Egyptian Man Shot Dead Libyan Girl And Her Father After Refusing Marriage Proposal

An Egyptian student shot dead her lover, a Libyan girl and her father in front of their home in Bayda City on Friday.

The suspect was identified as Ragheb Khaled and had a relationship with the victim, but her father rejected his marriage proposal several times.

A spokesman at the media office of the Libyan Ministry of Interior, Asa’ad Al Werfalli said that Khaled shot both “father and daughter” after he was asked to stay away from them.

Al Werfalli did not mention the names of the victims, but said that an investigation has been launched to find more information on the circumstances of the incident.

“Khaled was in love with her,” Abdulkarim Qwaider, the girl’s cousin said, adding they were studying at Al Bayda University and Khaled tried to draw her attention for the last two years.

Qawaider further went on to say that Khaled threatened to kill the father of the girl after refusing his marriage proposal.

General Khaled Al Basta, the top security official in Bayda, said that security forces arrested Khaled soon after the incident.

Khaled was hidden in a home in the Al Qubba area at the time of arrest, and his case was referred to the judiciary organizations.
