282 People Killed And 211 Wounded In Rain-Related Incidents in Pakistan

At least 282 people were killed and 211 others received injuries in different rain-related incidents across Pakistan in the last several days.

Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said Thursday that 160 women and children were among the dead, and around 5,500 homes were partially or fully damaged due to heavy rains causing floods.

Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province and southern Sindh province were hit worst. “88 people lost their lives in Balochistan and 67 in Sindah, and hundreds more were wounded,” NDMA added.

Another 57 people were killed in eastern Punjab province, 56 in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and 14 others in other states across Pakistan.

Rescue and relief activities are underway, and NDMA said its operatives have been engaged in providing emergency assistance to the victim families.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department also forecasted more rain in the coming days and advised the concerned offices to remain alert as heavy rainfall might generate flooding in several provinces.
