14 Killed After Mexican Navy Helicopter Crashes

At least 14 people were killed on Friday after a Mexican Navy helicopter crashed in Sinaloa.

The Mexican Navy said that a total of fifteen people were transported when a Black Hawk helicopter, 14 of whom died, and one is receiving medical treatment after the incident.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador expressed his condolences to the victims’ families on Twitter.

“I am very sorry for the loss of 14 members of the Mexican Navy, and I hope that the seriously injured officer recovers. I send my sincere condolences and hugs to his family, colleagues, and friends,” Obrador said in a tweet.

Mexican authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

The Mexican Navy said there is no evidence linking the crash to the Friday capture of infamous drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero, but a US official tracking the raid told CBS News that the crash was linked to the operation, though Quintero was not on board.
