Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan Sign 19 Bilateral Cooperation Agreements

Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan signed 19 agreements on Friday to boost cooperation on all fronts.

The agreements were signed during the state visit of Turkmenistan president Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Uzbekistan. 

Berdimuhamedov held talks with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand province, where the two leaders agreed for further improve bilateral cooperation  

The bilateral agreements between Tashkent and Ashgabat include developing transport and transit cooperation, promoting tourism, effectively managing and reasonable use of water resources of the Amudarya river, and a program of commercial and economic cooperation and development of industrial cooperation for 2022-2025.

The two neighbors also signed agreements in areas of scientific and technical cooperation for 2022-2024, program of cooperation between the Foreign Ministries for 2023-2024, and action plan for practical implementation of the provisions of the intergovernmental agreement on creation and regulation of cross-border trade zones.

Agreements in the fields of chemical industry, customs administration, railway transportation, forest management, justice, youth policy, and broadcasting were also signed.
