Turkish Police Seize Over 169kg in Illeagal Drugs in Istanbul

Turkish police on Tuesday said it has seized large amounts of illegal drugs in an operation in Fathi district of Istanbul city.

The operation was carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams, in which 169 kilograms of illegal drugs were seized as well as two traffickers identified by their initials O.A. and N.O. were arrested.

The seized drugs included: 

  • over 20 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 
  • 100 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine, 
  • 9 kilograms of methamphetamine and 
  • 40 kilograms of chemical powder and liquid used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
  • 100 grams of heroin and 
  • $4,780 in cash were also confiscated from the drug dealers.

Gendarmerie Command teams said they would continue to target and dismantle those groups involved in the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.

The suspects were arrested while they were getting preparations to distribute the drugs to the drug dealers across Istanbul city.
