Microsoft to Lay Off 180,000 People Worldwide in ‘Structural Adjustment’ of Workforce

Microsoft said it will cut one percent, or about 180,000 jobs worldwide in a move that it has described as a ‘structural adjustment’ of the tech giant’s workforce

The job cuts include positions in consulting, as well as consumer and partner solutions.

Softening the blow, Microsoft announced that it will make hires in other areas and roles, and expects that an  increase in the total number of employees during the fiscal year that started July 2022.

Microsoft denies that the layoffs are being driven by recession fears.
