According to Gulagu, some people “in civilian clothes” also came to the institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service (UFSIN) of Mordovia and offered conscription for prisoners who had combat experience.

The families of some prisoners have also complained that their loved ones in prison were conscripted and that they have no information on their whereabouts or condition.

“I am the mother of a convict who is in the correctional colony. According to people who came from Nizhny Novgorod’s KDS, convicts are being recruited and sent through Rostov to conduct military operations. The connection is disconnected and it is not possible to find out where the son is now. They filmed that they voluntarily agree to fight,” said a mother of a prisoner who wrote to Gulagu.

It is not yet known how many prisoners were actually recruited while the Kremlin has not yet made any statements regarding the recruitment of prisoners.
