Romania announced that it would be launching a warcrime probe against Russia for atrocities committed in the invasion of Ukraine.
In a statement to Prosecutor’s Office of Romania stated their national criminal law applies to offenses committed against Romanian citizens by a foreign citizen outside the territory of the country.
In Romania’s case, they claimed that the investigation takes into account the possession of Romanian citizenship by Ukrainian citizens and by the refugees in their borders.
“The consequences of the attack are particularly severe, resulting in a large number of deaths among the civilian population, including children, as well as injuries,” said Romanian prosecutors.
