Colombian Forces Kill Ten Members of FARC Splinter Group

Colombia claimed that it had killed at least 10 members of a splinter group of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) after a combined airstrike and ground assault in the southern Caquetá region.

The Colombian police and army have recently launched operation, Jupiter in Santa Rita village, in San Vicente del Caguán, Caquetá where they believed one of Colombia’s most wanted FARC commandes, “Ivan Mordisco,” was hiding.

Nestor Gregorio Vera Fernández, alias “Iván Mordisco,” is one of the most wanted FARC commanders in Colombia who currently commands the dissident 1st Front which operates in Guaviare, Vaupés, Meta and Vichada..

According to police, Mordisco was in the camp but have only confirmed the death of Euclides España Caicedo, alias Jhonier, one of Mordisco’s trusted men.

It is not yet known if Mordisco was really among the six men and four women who were killed in the operational area.

Mordisco is wanted for extortion of tradesmen, farmers and other rural inhabitants, illegal mining, drug trafficking, and controlling drug corridors.
