Banking Services and Government Operations Impacted by Outage at Canada’s Largest Mobile and Internet Service Provider

Rogers Communications, Canada’s largest mobile phone and internet service provider has suffered a major outage.  

The outage is impacting bank ATMs, emergency service telecommunications and government operations.

According to Netblocks the outage began at around 04:30 ET (08:30 GMT) on 8 July, 2022 with Internet connectivity dropping 75% from normal level by Friday morning.

The cause of the network outage – the second major outage in 15 months – is not known.

Rogers says it is working rapidly to resolve the widespread nationwide problem.

“We know how important it is for our customers to stay connected,” the company said via a statement on Twitter.

Rogers provides telecommunications service to nearly 11 million Canadians.
