Google and Yelp Disable Reviews for Some Anti-Abortion Crisis Pregnancy Center Pages

Google and Yelp have disabled the option for users to post reviews for some crisis pregnancy centers listed on their sites.

Additionally, Google has also disabled the ability to leave ratings for some abortion clinics, including Planned Parenthood.

As reported by NBC News, the progressive young activist group Gen-Z for Change first observed the suspension of the ability to publish reviews first.

S.A.F.E.R., which stands for Spam, Assist, Fund, Educate, and Register, was an initiative started by Gen-Z for Change that encouraged people to bombard anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers and anti-abortion tip lines with reviews and comments, using one of several prepared versions of text stating that a business is “not an abortion clinic” in order to provide transparency about what services the centers actually provide.

Users of the S.A.F.E.R. website have access to a script that would automatically post a large number of reviews on Yelp for crisis pregnancy centers.

The ability to post a review for any crisis pregnancy center listed on Google as a “pregnancy care center” seems to have been disabled as of Thursday.

Although several “pregnancy care clinics” had reviews made as recently as two weeks ago, it is unclear when the review buttons were disabled.
