At least eight people died and 36 others were wounded in a traffic accident early Thursday in Egypt’s southern Aswan governorate.
Egypt Independent reported that the crash happened when a passenger bus collided with a truck loaded with refrigerators at the 100th kilometer on Abu Simbel Road.
Local rescuers rushed to the scene of the accident and transferred the injured to Aswan Public Hospital.
There is no immediate report available on the health conditions of the wounded individuals, identity, and gender.
It has been said that there were 56 passengers on board the bus, which were traveling from Sudan.
Road accidents are common around Egypt due to its poor road maintenance and lax enforcement of traffic laws. However, the Egyptian government has recently launched National Road Project to upgrade its road network by building new roads and bridges and repairing existing ones.
