A 14-year-old boy was shot on Tuesday evening while taking out the trash in Texas.
The unnamed teenager was shot in the thigh while taking out the trash outside his family’s home around Dunbrook Park Lane in Houston around 5:15 PM, and he immediately ran through the neighborhood to call for help.
“He came out of his house, supposedly walked to the trash, and 31 seconds later, there were gunshots,” Harris County Sheriff’s Office Detective Brian said.
The teenager was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
Ed Gonzales, the Harris County Sheriff, posted a plea on Twitter to Dunbrook residents to review their surveillance cameras.
“If you reside in the neighborhood adjacent to Dunbrook Ln, please review your surveillance cameras (abt 5:15 pm). Investigators are trying to locate the site where the initial gunfire occurred,” Gonzales said in a tweet.
