ScotRail to Suspend Most Operations Next Week Due to Upcoming Strike

ScotRail announced it would suspend almost all of its usual services in line with the UK-wide strike by signal workers next week.

“Network Rail strike action will take place on 21, 23, and 25 June. This means a very limited number of services will operate on just five ScotRail routes in the Central Belt, with no service on all other routes,” said ScotRail.

Only180 ScotRail services on five routes in the central belt would be able to work next week out of the usual 2,150.

“On the five routes where we are able to operate a very limited service on strike days, we’re advising customers to seek alternative means of transport and to only travel if they really need to,” said ScotRail’s service delivery director David Simpson.

Delays are also expected after the strikes due to the transition of reopening signal boxes.

“It is very unfortunate to see such widespread disruption across the whole of the Great Britain rail network and we know this will be frustrating for ScotRail customers,” Simpson added.
