SEC Investigates Goldman Sachs for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Fund Offerings

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has started investigating Goldman Sachs’ regarding breaches in their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investment offerings.

The SEC reportedly flagged two funds handled by its asset-management arm if they violated the ESG metrics promised in marketing materials.

Goldman Sachs has not commented on the alleged investigation and no formal statement has been released confirming the probe.

Financial authorities worldwide have recently intensified efforts against alleged greenwashing and have already investigated other firms aside from banking entities.

The investigation against Goldman Sachs followed the settlement of the Bank of New York Mellon Corp. for ESG issues as well.
