Sweden to Send Anti-Tank Weapons to Ukraine

The government of Sweden announced it would provide Ukraine with anti-material sniper rifles, ammunition, and more anti-tank weapons.

According to the Swedish Ministry of Defense, Sweden has adopted a new amendment to provide Ukraine with AG 90 anti-materiel sniper rifles, ammunition, and 5,000 Swedish AT4 recoilless anti-tank weapons, as reported by the security and defense news agency Army Recognition.

Last week, Swedish Foreign Affairs Minister Ann Linde also said that Sweden’s support package for Ukraine amounted to over 95 million Euros.

“This 4th support package also includes a financial contribution to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The total amount includes more than 95 million euros… Russia’s war against Ukraine must stop,” Linde tweeted

Meanwhile, the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office Andriy Yermak said on Telegram that military helicopters from the U.S. Air Force base are due to arrive in Ukraine.

“Mi-17s for Ukraine are already being loaded at a base of the U.S. Air Force. Beautiful birds,” Yermak wrote, as reported by Ukrainian multimedia platform Ukrinform.

On June 1, the US announced a $700 million worth of security aid package for Ukraine, which included High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), munitions, air surveillance, counter-artillery radars, anti-armor weapons, Javelin anti-tank missiles, 155 mm artillery rounds, Mi-17 helicopters, tactical vehicles, and spare parts.
