At least 3 passengers were hospitalized after a hot air balloon bounced off a building and slammed into a train on Wednesday.
The City of Burlington Police Department in Wisconsin confirmed that ‘three adult occupants sustained life-threatening injuries’ on Wednesday evening.
Burlington police were dispatched on a report of a hot air balloon hit by a train around 8:15 PM, and the three victims have suffered life-threatening injuries.
The Burlington Police Department said the pilot and two passengers were released from a Froedtert Hospital on Thursday.
Jimmy Winder, the pilot, said that he was trying to land the hot air balloon when the gondola touched, and the balloon got entangled with a northbound Canadian National train.
The Federal Aviation Administration said that the crash involved a Cameron Balloons Z-90 hot air balloon.
The National Transportation Safety Board will continue investigating the incident and is working with the Burlington Police Department and the Federal Aviation Administration.
