Avenatti Sentenced to 4 Years Prison for Defrauding Stormy Daniels

Celebrity Lawyer Michael Avenatti was sentenced to four years in prison for embezzling nearly $300,000 in book proceeds intended for porn actress Stormy Daniels.

Manhattan federal court Judge Jesse M. Furman announced that the already-incarcerated Avenatti will spend another 2 1/2 years in prison in addition to the 2 1/2 years he is already serving after being convicted of fraud.

Avenatti has been in detention since February for attempting to extort over $20 million from Nike by trying to blackmail them with damaging information.

“I will forever be branded ‘disgraced lawyer’ and worse,” Avenatti said during his sentencing.

Avenatti added that he tried to apologize to Daniels but Furman said that it was too late for him.

Daniels said that Avenatti “betrayed” her by transferring her money to an account he controlled without telling her while they were tackling her lawsuit against former US President Donald Trump.
