A shooting at an outdoor Memorial Day festival in Taft, Oklahoma left one woman dead and seven others injured on May 29.
The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigations (OSBI) said that gunfire erupted following an argument among festival-goers after midnight at the Old City Square where 1,500 people were in attendance.
OSBI said that a 39-year-old woman died from the shooting while seven others — aged nine to 56 years old — were transported to hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office was already at the event and immediately rendered aid to the victims, according to OSBI.
A suspect in the shooting, identified as 26-year-old Skyler Buckner, turned himself in at the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office at 4:05 p.m. local time after authorities issued an arrest warrant.
It is not clear what evidence led authorities to Buckner.
Authorities have not yet announced the charges against Buckner.
The investigation is ongoing.
