Vigils Held Across Texas for Uvalde Shooting

Uvalde and other Texas cities held vigils Wednesday in memory of the 19 children and two teachers killed in a shooting at Robb Elementary School on Tuesday.

Pastor Tony Gruben of Baptist Temple Church expressed his sorrow on Wednesday evening at the Uvalde County Fairplex.

“Our hearts are broken. We are devastated,” Gruben said.

San Antonio and the Texas state capital Austin also held vigils for the victims.

Ron Nirenberg, Mayor of San Antonio in Texas, shared his condolences for the victims.

“We’re here for Uvalde. We’re here to be a witness to the collective trauma,” Nirenberg told NBC News.

San Antonio resident Justin ‘Tex’ Mire, a father of four, also said his thoughts about the shootings.

“Children shouldn’t suffer at the hands of anyone. You always have to believe there’s hope,” Mire said.
