Two Iranian pilots were killed on Tuesday after their F-7 training jet fighter crashed in the east of Isfahan province in southern Iran.
Deputy Governor of Isfahan for Political, Security and Social Affairs, Mohammad Reza Jan-Nesari said that the incident took place at around 8:10 am local time when the jet crashed in Anarak city in east Isfahan.
Jan-Nesari identified the pilots as Major Qasem Zamani and his co-pilot First Lieutenant Mohammad Javad Bai, and they were on a training mission.
Iran launched an investigation on the circumstances of the incident.
Iranian Air Forces have witnessed several crashes in the recent years and the recent one was in February when an F-5 plane belonging to the Iranian military crashed in a residential area of the northwestern city of Tabriz, killing three people, including two pilots.
