Japan Reports Chinese and Russian Plane Incursion During Quad Meeting

Japan Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi reported that China and Russia has flown 6 bombers near the country leaders from the United States, India, Australia and Japan held the Quad talks.

According to Kishi, two Chinese bombers joined two Russian bombers in the Sea of Japan before heading to the East China Sea while another set of aircraft flew over tje East China Sea before heading to the Pacific Ocean.

Kishi clarified that the planes have not breached their airspace nor showed hostile actions. 

“The military drill carried out by the two countries’ bombers near our nation during the meeting of the leaders of Japan, the United States, Australia and India, was intended to be an act of demonstration” said Kishi.

The Chinese and Russian defense ministries earlier announced  that they will conduct a “joint patrol” over the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that the flights “were of a strategic nature,” and that it was conducted in accordance with the plan of bilateral inter-army cooperation for the current year.
