Israel Claims Foiling Plot To Assassinate Kahanist Lawmaker In Jerusalem

Israeli security authorities claimed that they have arrested three Palestinians, who planned to kill an Israeli politician, kidnap soldiers and to carry out a bombing in Jerusalem.

Israel’s internal security agency said that the detained individuals that allegedly belong to the militant group Hamas, and accused them of planning to assassinate the far-right Israeli politician Itamar Ben Gvir.

Haaretz reported that Israeli forces also seized explosives which the terrorists were intended to use it to attack Jerusalem’s light railway, 

Among the three Palestinians, who were arrested in April, two of them were identified as Mansour Safadi and Mohammed Salaime, both about 20 years old, had a plan to kidnap Israeli soldiers to use them as bargaining chips for the release of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

Israeli leaders have repeatedly accused Hamas of fueling violence in Jerusalem and also regarded it as a terrorist group.

Hamas does not recognize Israel as a state and carried out several attacks against Israeli army and civilian populated areas.
